I am generally a concerned citizen and I vote regularly. I am college educated, have had a steady career and marriage over the past 18 years, have 5 kids, have a mortgage, and attend church each Sunday.
However, I have NOT paid much attention to national politics since 2004 because of all the aforementioned duties in my life that keep me busy. One of the reasons that I haven't been interested is because I have been reasonably disappointed with Bush (after staunchly supporting him in 2000 and 2004). Many of the current situations that we find ourselves in were not caused by Bush, but he hasn't done much to help either.
Another reason I wasn't interested was because I didn't see any great options in 2008. Within the last week, the new attention paid to Gov. Huckabee made me interested and after doing a little research into him, I really like what I see. So now I am again a political news junkie and will have to stop listening to sports radio for the next year.
Can he win? I don't know, but I think there are probably a lot of people like me who could really generate some new excitement around him. Looking at the polls, it suggests that I may not be the only one!
